Belated Saturday Challenge~Use Your Tools!

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the late posting of the challenge, we were busy yesterday spending time with our families just in case the world was ending....LOL!
The challenge was handed over to Audrey this week, so here is her description and below you will see some photos of her sample. If you live locally, you MUST stop in and see this layout in person, the photos just don't do it justice!

Before you go on though, we want to say a special thank you to Janet, who is a very talented member of our Design Team. She entered our challenge last week with a gorgeous project along with a very touching, heartwrenching story. She lost her mom and we want to extend our sincerest condolences during such a sad time. Please take a moment to take a look at her beautiful bird house.

And now here is Audrey's post and challenge for this week (pay special attention to the fabulous flower she made using ribbon and Glubers that are now in stock at Paper Wings:

Hi there!  When I gave Colleen my design team project this week, using Echo Park Springtime, I told her that I had gone a bit crazy using some of my new toys....I mean, tools, on the page.  I used my new Sew-Easy piercing tool for the stitched border, a regular piercer for the embroidery,  two new Martha Stewart punches for the frame and the picket fence, a new EK Success punch for the floral border, my new Tim Holtz tiny attacher stapler and the new Glubers for the ribbon flower.  I also used my trusty paper trimmer with a scallop blade for one of the borders and decorative edge scissors for another, as well as my dusty old Fastenator to staple the ribbon for my bow, and of course, a needle and embroidery floss.  So, here's your challenge:  Use as many toys, I mean TOOLS, as you can on your next page.  They can be new or old, any item that you can think of to help you create your page...the more the merrier!

Saturday Challenge

Good Saturday morning to you! Welcome back for another challenge. I made this card with the fabulous new Distress Stains by Tim Holtz. These are SO much fun to play with! I also used Distress Ink Pads on the card as well, they coordinate so well together. The stamps are from our friend Pat at One Little Spark and this is one of the cards we did at her Extravaganza last week.

So, our challenge for you this week is to make a layout, card or project using Distress Stains (if you have them already), Distress Inks, or Distress Embossing Powder. Please leave a comment below with a link to your project! One lucky winner will be selected as random to win one of the new Distress Stains that are in stock at Paper Wings.
Have a great weekend!

Saturday Challenge

Thank you Sandi for playing along this week with your GORGEOUS card! The challenge this week is to use paint on your layout, card, or other project.
The sample here is an 8 1/2 x 11 layout where I used paint on my photo to make a border, then added white dots with my Uniball pen (if you are looking for a good white marker, these are the best I have found!) and they are in stock at Paper Wings!

So leave us a comment here on this post showing us a link to YOUR layout using paint! Have a great weekend :)

A Challenge For Ya!

So this week, we would like to see you use a "ruffled or pleated ribbon" technique on your layout, card or other papercraft project.
Here is a sample for you!
On the right hand side, you'll see a bit of ribbon that is "ruffled". I accomplished this by using a strip of red line tape and ruffling the ribbon a bit as I stuck it down. A fun technique to add a bit of texture to your project! Let's see what you can do!
Colleen is off at a crop today and I'm not sure how to set up the Mr. Linky (I'm so NOT the technical one in the family!) so just leave a comment here with a link to your project!
Thanks for playing along!
And if you're looking for something to do today, remember the store is closed but Colleen is vending at the Toys for Tots crop at the Ocean Acres Community Center, stop by and say HI if you are out and about!
Enjoy your weekend!

Cupcake Inspiration Photo Challenge

Hi all. Thanks for this weeks challenge submissions. Our mystery judge has chosen our winner. But first a little about her. This weeks judge is a wonderful lady that we are lucky to know. Mrs. Patricia Thorpe from our favorite little stamp shop One Little Spark. If you've never had the pleasure of visiting her store, it's well worth the trip. Visit her website at
Www.one-little-spark.com. And now for the winner:
Congratulations to Brenda Brown. We loved both and Pat had a hard time choosing between the two. And now for this weeks challenge.

Hope you all had a great week! Today is a big day for me, I am in New York City celebrating my "Big 4-0". So in honor of my day (thought I'd embrace it rather than DENY!) I thought it would be fun to do a photo inspiration for this week's challenge using this fun and festive ice cream cupcake image!

So use this as your inspiration for a layout, card, or any papercrafting project that suits your fancy! As you can see by my sample below, my interpretation was very literal, I used a cupcake stamp and a circle punch to create the polkadots in the background. I made it quick and simple since I am busy packing for my weekend away :) But feel free to take this in any direction you please, whether you use the colors, the party theme or wherever it leads you. Just be sure to have fun with it!
See you next week!
xx, Nora Anne

Saturday Challenge

Since there were only two submissions this week (and we really loved them both) instead of choosing one winner, we are going to award both layouts a prize so CONGRATULATIONS to Mary Beth and Jen, you are both lucky winners of the Unity Itty Bitty stamp, Live Love Laugh!
Please email your mailing address to: thegirls@paperwingsnj.com.

For this week's challenge, you will be asked to use a handmade embellishment on your layout, card or project. Here is a sample of a layout and a card using handmade flowers.

The flower on the layout was made with fabric tape and the leaves were stamped, then sprayed with Glimmer Mist and coated with Glossy Accents.

This flower was made by punching scallops from vintage sheet music, then decoupaging with glittered decoupage. (A lot of you have seen this before since we made them in the store and I also did a tutorial on my blog awhile back, click here if you'd like to check it out.)
The ribbon was also hand-dyed seam binding, so that is another handmade embellishment for ya!
We have decided that we will once again offer a prize for the winner this week. It's a cool new tool from We R Memory Keepers called the Sew Easy!
If you love to sew on your pages but hate using those templates or popping holes by hand then this is the tool for you! Check out this site to learn more about it!

Have a great weekend! xx

Meet Our 2 New Design Team Members!

We are excited to announce the two new additions to our Design Team! We were blown away by their talent and think you will be too! We are excited to share some of their work with you, (and will be very soon!) but for now, learn a little bit about them and their passion for scrapbooking!

Hi! My name is Janet.  I am the proud mom of two beautiful girls, Lauren and Madison and am married to my HS sweetheart and best friend of 27 years Kevin. We share our home with two really cool dogs and 1 cat who thinks he’s a dog.  We live near the shore in Cape May.  I have spent the last 23 years working for the Superior Court of CMC.
I love spending time outdoors, reading, camping, gardening, and crafting. I have dabbled in all types of arts and crafts my whole life; everything from crocheting, knitting, sewing and painting to beading and basket weaving!  I have been scrapbooking for about 7yrs now and it is my true passion. I like everything with paper crafting - traditional 12X12 pages, minis, cards, altered projects, banners and more.  I’m always searching for new ideas and techniques and love sharing them too.
Spending time with family and friends is important to me. Scrapbooking my photos go hand in hand with my love of family and friends and seeing our memories displayed on paper and projects.
Janet's BLOG

My name is Sandi Smith. I am a 47 year old single mother of two boys; Alex is 21 and Liam is 17.  (boy they have grown up too fast)
I have always been crafty. My Grandmother tought me ceramics when I was 3, I've made doll furniture, and even made a lot of my kids clothes when they were young. It was when I discovered Scrapbooking that I found a hobby that I was hooked to for life.  I've been scrapping for about 14 years and I admit, I am an addict! I like to think my pages have become more sophisticated over time. My favorite company is almost exclusively Websters Pages.  They are the most gorgeous papers and just seem to spark my creativity.  I am so excited to be part of the design team. My goal is to inspire and be inspired by others. I am so looking forward to this new journey and hope to meet new people along the way.

AND DON'T FORGET YOU STILL HAVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT TOMORROW TO ENTER OUR SATURDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE FOR A CHANCE TO WIN AN ITTY BITTY FROM UNITY! CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS!----------->>>>>>>>>>> DETAILS!
