Happy Birthday to my baby and Giveaway!

So this is what happy looks like. And all courtesy of cupcakes for breakfast! It is my baby boys 4th birthday. He is so super excited! We started his birthday celebration early with a day out with his Auntie (and godmother) Nora Anne, Uncle Neil, and his best pal Lukey. They spent the day on the beach and then mini golf. I joined them for an evening of rides and games at Fantasy Island Amusement park! What an amazing night. Now it's back to Long Beach Island today for pizza and cake at our restaurant with friends and family. I'm so excited. The only thing that would make it better would be to have my Mom here to share the day with us. I'm sure she's looking down on us and sending love and birthday wishes! So how about some wishes from all of you. I'm having yet another birthday wishes giveaway. Leave a comment sending my little Dominick some birthday love and he'll pick one lucky winner to get a New Sew Easy tool plus a large Pennant head! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!
Happy Saturday everyone and best wishes for an amazing kick off to the 2011 summer season.  We are so excited here at the store because as some of you already know, we are located on beautiful Long Beach Island in NJ.  It is a great little town and the population explodes for the summer season.  So what are your plans for this weekend?  Bar-b-que with the family? Hitting the beach?  Just be sure to have your camera and get great shots of this amazing weather whatever you choose to do.  I do have a little announcement to make.  For the time being, due to lack of interest, I will be suspending the Saturday Challenge.  Thanks to all of you who have participated in the past and my idea is to have it begin again in the early fall.  However, I will be running some monthly blog candy type giveaways so be sure to check back often.  There is so much great product out there right now and with summer CHA coming up, I bet there will be so much more.  We did get the opportunity to meet some great people at the Somerset NJ Scrapbook Expo.  Among them were Dom Mahoney from the Teresa Collins Stampmaker. His demo was amazing and I had no idea what this machine was capable of until seeing it.  You may be seeing "An evening featuring Teresa Collins" at the store sometime soon!!!  Also, just in are the new Sew Easy large piercing heads.  If you haven't seen them yet, scoot over to http://www.weronthenet.com/ to check them out.  They make sewing on your page "Sew Easy"!!!! And how about those Glubers from Cosmo Cricket!  I love them and they are the hot new item at the store.  Even those who are flower making challenged such as myself can make beautiful, hand made flowers to use on layouts, cards, or even hair and clothing accessories.  I love them.  So if you stop by here, take a second to leave us a comment and let us know what of your favorite tools of the trade are, new or old.  Sometimes the old reliables are the best!  Again from us here at Paper Wings, have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and please take a moment to thank a vet for keeping our country the best in the world!  Happy weekend and god bless!

Belated Saturday Challenge~Use Your Tools!

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the late posting of the challenge, we were busy yesterday spending time with our families just in case the world was ending....LOL!
The challenge was handed over to Audrey this week, so here is her description and below you will see some photos of her sample. If you live locally, you MUST stop in and see this layout in person, the photos just don't do it justice!

Before you go on though, we want to say a special thank you to Janet, who is a very talented member of our Design Team. She entered our challenge last week with a gorgeous project along with a very touching, heartwrenching story. She lost her mom and we want to extend our sincerest condolences during such a sad time. Please take a moment to take a look at her beautiful bird house.

And now here is Audrey's post and challenge for this week (pay special attention to the fabulous flower she made using ribbon and Glubers that are now in stock at Paper Wings:

Hi there!  When I gave Colleen my design team project this week, using Echo Park Springtime, I told her that I had gone a bit crazy using some of my new toys....I mean, tools, on the page.  I used my new Sew-Easy piercing tool for the stitched border, a regular piercer for the embroidery,  two new Martha Stewart punches for the frame and the picket fence, a new EK Success punch for the floral border, my new Tim Holtz tiny attacher stapler and the new Glubers for the ribbon flower.  I also used my trusty paper trimmer with a scallop blade for one of the borders and decorative edge scissors for another, as well as my dusty old Fastenator to staple the ribbon for my bow, and of course, a needle and embroidery floss.  So, here's your challenge:  Use as many toys, I mean TOOLS, as you can on your next page.  They can be new or old, any item that you can think of to help you create your page...the more the merrier!

Design Team Layout

I just had to share this beautiful layout done by Design Team member, Sandi. Here is a description of the layout in Sandi's words:
"On this layout I used several of the new Webster's line along with their peach bloomers. I added pearls & flowers from my stash, platinum stickles, a frame from tattered angels which was distressed with Tim holtz's inks & I sprayed the whole thing with marshmallow glimmer mist which gives it all a bit of a sparkle. The image is an enlargement of an antique post card I got off of eBay."j

Leave Sandi some love in the comments section!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Another layout of the month at Paper Wings

Hi all. So today was our L.O.M at PaperWings (check the website for description www.paperwingsnj.com). We had so much fun. Today's "tool of the month" was Tim Holtz's new Distress Stains ( love em!). I'll have to post the example project that I did. Anyway, I had so much fun with our ladies who have been dubbed "The Jackson Five" ( 5 crafty women who live in Jackson NJ). So the point of my babbling is this: DISTRESS STAINS ARE AWESOME!!!! If you haven't tried them do so. If you can't find them near you, email us, we ship anywhere. What I'm saying is get some of these. I think Tim has really out done himself. Also, just 2 hours until the blog candy entries end. I cant wait to choose our winner. Tune in tomorrow. That's all for now. Have a wonderful evening and a relaxing week. ~Colleen
