Down with the flu :(

Sorry fellow bloggers but todays Saturday challenge has been cancelled. My sister and I are both down with the flu. Hopefully after a few doses of chicken soup and antibiotics we will be up and running again. Wishing you all a wonderful and healthy week! Xx-Colleen and Nora Anne

Sick Leave

The Paper Wings challenge will be on hiatus this week due to the flu bug sweeping over us all, including poor little Dominick who has 105 fever. Please say a prayer his fever comes down so he doesn't have to go the hospital.

Cupcake Inspiration Photo Challenge

Hi all. Thanks for this weeks challenge submissions. Our mystery judge has chosen our winner. But first a little about her. This weeks judge is a wonderful lady that we are lucky to know. Mrs. Patricia Thorpe from our favorite little stamp shop One Little Spark. If you've never had the pleasure of visiting her store, it's well worth the trip. Visit her website at
Www.one-little-spark.com. And now for the winner:
Congratulations to Brenda Brown. We loved both and Pat had a hard time choosing between the two. And now for this weeks challenge.

Hope you all had a great week! Today is a big day for me, I am in New York City celebrating my "Big 4-0". So in honor of my day (thought I'd embrace it rather than DENY!) I thought it would be fun to do a photo inspiration for this week's challenge using this fun and festive ice cream cupcake image!

So use this as your inspiration for a layout, card, or any papercrafting project that suits your fancy! As you can see by my sample below, my interpretation was very literal, I used a cupcake stamp and a circle punch to create the polkadots in the background. I made it quick and simple since I am busy packing for my weekend away :) But feel free to take this in any direction you please, whether you use the colors, the party theme or wherever it leads you. Just be sure to have fun with it!
See you next week!
xx, Nora Anne

New Design Team Member-Sandi

I have been anxious to share Sandi's layouts with you, but technology is not my friend right now! I have re-saved, edited, copied, pasted and for the life of me cannot get these to upload right in Blogger! In my photo program, they are upright, but Blogger keeps translating them SIDEWAYS! So, please be careful, we don't want any neck injuries or dropped laptops as you view these beauties!!!!!!!!!!!
ENJOY!

De-Stressed!

That's how I feel when I make the time to "get my craft on"! I'm sure you are all in the same boat, you really WANT to make something, you want to scrapbook, you want to make a card or an altered item, but you just don't have the TIME!
That is when I break out my supplies for a "quickie" session of crafting and that temporary feeds my creative hunger!
So in the midst of a busy busy day, I whipped up this little tag in under ten minutes.

I got this gorgeous Hero Arts bird collage stamp last week when I went to Pat's Super Bowl Bash at One Little Spark (best stamp store around!) I also picked up the large manilla tags there, which made my quick project even quicker, who doesn't love pre-cut tags!?!?
I inked up this LARGE background stamp with a variety of different Tim Holtz Distress Inks* (love these!) and then outlined the bird with Stickles* to make him stand out.
I embossed the bottom with my Tim Holtz woodgrain embossing folder and added a ribbon* and a few rhinestones. The top was finished off with the same ribbon and stapled on with the Tiny Attacher*.
So break out your distressing tools and join in on the challenge! I know, none of us have the time, we have to MAKE the time! Trust me, you won't be sorry, feed your creative soul :)
p.s. *Remember Paper Wings will be re-opening on March 5th! All of these fun supplies marked with an (*) can be found there and LOTS more! Looking forward to creating with you this Spring!

Hi all. Thanks to all of you who have participated in the challenge. Last weeks prizes have been mailed ( finally) and we are ready to announce today's winner and present a new challenge. So, without further ado, congratulations to (drumroll please)...................................

I had a submission from someone via email who didn't identify themselves. I emailed to ask for your info so I could post your work but didn't hear back. Please contact me: )
Now for this week. So I sat the other day making orders for the store opening. I loved so many of the new Tim Holtz products, particularly the distress stains *fun*! So that being said, I would love to see your take on a Tim Holtz inspired project. It can be a layout, card, altered item etc. Whatever your little heart desires. Please provide us with a description of the products and techniques used in your work. In keeping with the theme, this weeks winner will receive a little package of Tim Holtz products. Our last few challenges, our winner was chosen at random using random.org. This week we are going to have a mystery judge who will be choosing the winner. The winner and guest judge will be announced this time next week. So get ready to get grungy and channel Mr. Tim Holtz! Have fun we can't wait to see your work.
Have a great weekend! xx

Saturday Challenge

Since there were only two submissions this week (and we really loved them both) instead of choosing one winner, we are going to award both layouts a prize so CONGRATULATIONS to Mary Beth and Jen, you are both lucky winners of the Unity Itty Bitty stamp, Live Love Laugh!
Please email your mailing address to: thegirls@paperwingsnj.com.

For this week's challenge, you will be asked to use a handmade embellishment on your layout, card or project. Here is a sample of a layout and a card using handmade flowers.

The flower on the layout was made with fabric tape and the leaves were stamped, then sprayed with Glimmer Mist and coated with Glossy Accents.

This flower was made by punching scallops from vintage sheet music, then decoupaging with glittered decoupage. (A lot of you have seen this before since we made them in the store and I also did a tutorial on my blog awhile back, click here if you'd like to check it out.)
The ribbon was also hand-dyed seam binding, so that is another handmade embellishment for ya!
We have decided that we will once again offer a prize for the winner this week. It's a cool new tool from We R Memory Keepers called the Sew Easy!
If you love to sew on your pages but hate using those templates or popping holes by hand then this is the tool for you! Check out this site to learn more about it!

Have a great weekend! xx

Meet Our 2 New Design Team Members!

We are excited to announce the two new additions to our Design Team! We were blown away by their talent and think you will be too! We are excited to share some of their work with you, (and will be very soon!) but for now, learn a little bit about them and their passion for scrapbooking!

Hi! My name is Janet.  I am the proud mom of two beautiful girls, Lauren and Madison and am married to my HS sweetheart and best friend of 27 years Kevin. We share our home with two really cool dogs and 1 cat who thinks he’s a dog.  We live near the shore in Cape May.  I have spent the last 23 years working for the Superior Court of CMC.
I love spending time outdoors, reading, camping, gardening, and crafting. I have dabbled in all types of arts and crafts my whole life; everything from crocheting, knitting, sewing and painting to beading and basket weaving!  I have been scrapbooking for about 7yrs now and it is my true passion. I like everything with paper crafting - traditional 12X12 pages, minis, cards, altered projects, banners and more.  I’m always searching for new ideas and techniques and love sharing them too.
Spending time with family and friends is important to me. Scrapbooking my photos go hand in hand with my love of family and friends and seeing our memories displayed on paper and projects.
Janet's BLOG

My name is Sandi Smith. I am a 47 year old single mother of two boys; Alex is 21 and Liam is 17.  (boy they have grown up too fast)
I have always been crafty. My Grandmother tought me ceramics when I was 3, I've made doll furniture, and even made a lot of my kids clothes when they were young. It was when I discovered Scrapbooking that I found a hobby that I was hooked to for life.  I've been scrapping for about 14 years and I admit, I am an addict! I like to think my pages have become more sophisticated over time. My favorite company is almost exclusively Websters Pages.  They are the most gorgeous papers and just seem to spark my creativity.  I am so excited to be part of the design team. My goal is to inspire and be inspired by others. I am so looking forward to this new journey and hope to meet new people along the way.

AND DON'T FORGET YOU STILL HAVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT TOMORROW TO ENTER OUR SATURDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE FOR A CHANCE TO WIN AN ITTY BITTY FROM UNITY! CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS!----------->>>>>>>>>>> DETAILS!
